Thanks to everyone who came out for our can tasting this past Thursday!  We wanted to give everyone a proper introduction to Quest‘s new canned Golden Fleece as well as another set of options for summer.  Golden Fleece has made a great transition to cans and we can’t wait for the rest of their lineup to start showing up.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, June 5th, from 5-7 PM for a tasting featuring session ales!  We wanted to continue with the easy drinking summer theme we started last week with cans and sessions are the perfect fit.  We’ll have everything from a session Saison all the way to a session IPA.  Join us to help continue the summer fun!

If you’re a fan of Terrapin or want to jump in and get to know them better, this is the week for you.  With four new arrivals this week, there has never been a better chance to get to know this regional favorite.  HI-5 is a year round canned California Style IPA, and at only 5.9% ABV it makes the perfect companion for all of your activities.  Don’t be fooled by the slightly lower than average ABV, HI-5 still packs a punch.  Maggie’s Peach Farmhouse is a returning Peach Saison that is sure to please any fan of the style.  Tangerine Dreamsicle and Moonray are limited releases, one a collaboration and one a side project, that both use citrus to great effect.

We’re excited to be able to help fill your beer needs now and in the future.  If you’ve got any beer suggestions or ideas, or any feedback, we would love to hear it!  Keep an eye out for more emails in the future with updates about events, new beers, new kegs, and more!  If you’d like daily updates and information about kegs as they’re tapped, make sure to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

Thanks again,

We hope you’re all enjoying your Memorial Day weekend!  We’re open normal hours all weekend, so you can drop in for your last minute beer needs.

Tasting will resume this upcoming Thursday, May 29th, from 5-7 PM.  To help everyone prepare for the summer, we’re going to taste a selection of beers from cans.  We still meet people who refuse to try anything canned and we’re hoping to change that so you won’t miss out on a lot of great breweries.

Maine Beer Company from Freeport, MN joined our shelves this past week – they’re a brewery you’ll want to keep your eyes on.  This small brewery is extremely highly rated with a large portion of their brews over 90 on Beer Advocate and 98 on Ratebeer.  If you’re looking for something new to try, make sure you pick up something from Maine Beer Co and continue to watch their new arrivals.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our sour tasting this past Thursday evening!  We wanted to provide a wide variety of styles and levels of sourness.  Westbrook’s Gose continued to make fans throughout the event with several people saying the build-up to it helped prepare them for the wild flavors.

There won’t be a tasting this upcoming week, but they will resume the following Thursday, May 29th.  We’re always looking for your opinions on what you’d like to taste so send us suggestions for events through the summer.  We didn’t plan to taste sours but ended up using them because of several requests for an introduction to the style.

This week brought us two exciting remixes from Westbrook and the gypsy brewery Stillwater.  They took a recipe from each other and modified it in some way to make it even more unique.  Big Tasty’s Back Door is a remix of Stillwater’s Cellar Door with “therapeutic herbs and spices” as well as brettanomyces bruxellensis.  Gose Gone Wild takes Westbrook’s incredibly popular Gose and adds both Citra and Amarillo hops as well as brettanomyces.  If you’re a fan of either of these breweries or beers, you’ll want to pick these up soon because quantities are limited.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Freehouse tasting on Friday evening!  We had a blast hosting Arthur and further introducing everyone to his brews.  Their Bitter Monk was a huge hit with fantastic citrus flavors from fresh organic grapefruit and orange zest.  Instead of dry-hopping, Freehouse “dry-zested” the Bitter Monk.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, May 15th, from 5-7 PM for a tasting featuring a selection of sours!  Sours are currently becoming increasingly popular and come in a very wide variety of styles.  We’ve had people express interest in further exploring sours and we thought this would be perfect timing.

Two years ago, Stone bottled their Smoked Porter with Vanilla Beans and Chipotle Peppers.  Since then, we’ve only seen the Vanilla Bean variation return – until now.  Stone Smoked Porter with Chipotle Peppers adds another layer to the flavor thanks to the interplay of smoke and heat.  The peppers give a nice touch of heat instead of the long lingering burn of the Stone Crime and Punishment.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Stillwater tasting this past Thursday!  Stillwater is a gypsy brewery based out of Maryland that focuses on Belgian style ales.  Their Belgian Strong Golden Ale, As Follows, was a definite winner with tons of flavor and well hidden alcohol.

The all organic Freehouse Brewing from Charleston has been brewing some fantastic beer since they opened last year, and we’re happy to announce that they will be joining us for a tap takeover this Friday, May 9th!  Their owner, Arthur, will be joining us from 5-7 PM that evening as we taste a wide selection of core and seasonal releases.  Freehouse has been brewing up hit after hit and this is one event you won’t want to miss!

New Belgium‘s ever popular La Folie returned to our shelves this week.  La Folie is headed up by Peter Brouckaert, a former brewer from Brouwerij Rodenbach.  This Sour Brown Ale is a blend of two barrels of their sour “Oscar” that has been aging in French Oak barrels for between one and three years.
