Thanks to everyone who came out for our Oak Aged tasting this past Thursday!  We wanted to help people explore just how much aging can change different styles, even ones that you don’t expect to see aged like IPAs.  Dogfish Head‘s Burton Baton and Founders Curmudgeon were quick to become favorites amongst the bunch.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, May 1st, from 5-7 PM for a tasting featuring Stillwater Artisanal AlesStillwater is a gypsy brewery – they don’t have a brewery and instead create their recipes and brew them somewhere else, like Westbrook or Thomas Creek.  Their focus is on Belgian style ales, especially Farmhouse ales, so we’ll run through a wide variety of what they’re brewing up.

The all organic Freehouse Brewing from Charleston has been brewing some fantastic beer since they opened last year, and we’re happy to announce that they will be joining us for a tap takeover on May 9th!  Their owner, Arthur, will be joining us from 5-7 PM that evening as we taste a wide selection of core and seasonal releases.  Freehouse has been brewing up hit after hit and this is one event you won’t want to miss!

We just tapped a keg of a very special barrel aged release from Quest this morning – a bourbon barrel aged Smoking Mirror Porter with toasted almonds, toasted coconut, and cocoa nibs.  Smoking Mirror picks up the flavors of the bourbon while becoming extremely smooth due to the cocoa and coconut.  We’ve heard this one referred to as “Allman Joy,” but we think it can be summed up as “delicious.”  Come fill your growlers while this treat lasts!

We received a very small delivery of Dogfish Head‘s 75 Minute IPA this week.  75 Minute is a bottle conditioned blend of their 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a little bit of maple syrup for a silky smooth mouthfeel.  Bottles of 75 Minute are very limited, so you’ll want to pick yours up quickly before they’re all gone.

We’re excited to be able to help fill your beer needs now and in the future.  If you’ve got any beer suggestions or ideas, or any feedback, we would love to hear it!  Keep an eye out for more emails in the future with updates about events, new beers, new kegs, and more!  If you’d like daily updates and information about kegs as they’re tapped, make sure to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

Thanks again,

Carl & Vance

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Anchor Brewing tasting this past Thursday!  Anchor has been a San Francisco classic for a very long time thanks to their Steam Beer.  We hope we helped create a few new fans of their great lineup.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, April 24th, from 5-7 PM for an “Oak Aged” tasting.  We’ll have a selection of four different styles that have all been oak aged.  Oak aging tends to impart a slight vanilla and/or oak-y flavor into the beer and is used to compliment the flavors that are already present.  Oak and barrel aging is making a huge resurgence and now is a great time to explore some of the great brews that have been created as a result!

We will be open normal hours on Easter Sunday.  If you don’t have plans or just have some last minute beer needs, drop in and see us from 1-5 PM.

This week marked the return of the ever popular Stone Enjoy By IPA!  Only five markets received 5.16.14 and South Carolina was one of the lucky few.  We tapped our keg this morning for growler fills, so drop in and pick some up while it lasts!

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Bell’s Brewery tasting this past Thursday!  Their Two Hearted Ale is always a fan favorite, and we hope we converted a few people into Oberon fans for the summer!  We still have a few Amber and Best Brown posters remaining so let us know if you’d like one.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, April 17th, from 5-7 PM to taste beers from one of America’s oldest breweries, Anchor Brewing.  This San Francisco brewery is well known for their Steam Beer but they have other great beers that are well worth trying.  As always, the tasting is free.

This week marked the arrival of Green Man Brewing from Asheville, NC!  They’ve been brewing since 1997 and have a great lineup!  For now, we only have their three core beers in bottles (IPA, ESB, Porter), but we hope to have their seasonals whenever they roll around.  We’ll also have kegs of theirs cycling through from time to time.  Give their bottles a shot and let us know if there’s anything you might like to see on tap!

Thanks to everyone who came out for Thomas Creek Beer School!  We had fun hosting Josh and Weston from Thomas Creek and hope everyone learned a thing or two.  If you haven’t been out to Thomas Creek recently, now’s a better time than ever to stop by so you can see their new taproom.  Greenville Beer Week has been a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, April 10th, from 5-7 PM for a tasting featuring Bell’s Brewery from Kalamazoo, Michigan!  You may know them for their Two Hearted Ale, but their entire catalog is full of winners.  We’ll have both seasonal and year-round offerings that are perfect to enjoy during the spring and summer time heat.

As part of the continuing Greenville Beer Week festivities, we’ve tapped up a keg of Quest‘s new Makara Double IPA.  Makara is the first DIPA to come out of Quest and features Citra hops.  Quest has brought this one in at 8% ABV and kept it extremely well balanced and drinkable.  This keg won’t last long so don’t wait for the end of the weekend to come get a growler filled.
